Why Still I Run
I'm running two marathons to raise money for Still I Run, a nonprofit organization that promotes the benefits of running for mental health. I chose to represent them because mental health is deeply personal to me—two close friends of mine, who struggled with mental illness, turned to drugs instead of healthier coping mechanisms like running or community support, and tragically, both of them passed away. On top of that, a dear friend's sister also lost her life to drug use. These heartbreaking losses are powerful reminders of what can happen when people don’t have the tools or support they need to cope. Still I Run exists to change that narrative. They build a nationwide community of runners who use movement as a way to manage mental health challenges and fight the stigma surrounding mental illness. Through programs like their Starting Line Scholarship, mental health support groups, and ambassador-led run chapters, they empower individuals to take proactive steps toward healing. I believe in their mission because I’ve seen how powerful running can be—and how devastating it is when people don’t have access to support. Every mile I run is for those who are still fighting and for the hope that together, we can offer a better path forward.
